HIPAA statement It is the policy of RPM that all personnel and the systems they use preserve the integrity and the confidentiality of the sensitive medical information of patients served by our clients. The purpose of this policy is to ensure that RPM and its officers, employees, and agents have the medical information necessary to provide the most efficient health care reimbursement services possible while protecting the confidentiality of that personal information to the highest degree possible. The rules and guidelines comprising this policy are expressly set forth in the RPM compliance manual, with strict adherence to this handbook required of all officers, managers and personnel. Compliance with these written policies is strictly monitored by the company’s designated compliance officer. Employees may report violations of this policy confidentially to the compliance officer through a toll-free “compliance hotline” established by RPM. RPM has also paid particular attention to the security of its computer systems containing protected personal health information. Our Collection Partner© software is expressly password protected, thereby insuring that the data contained therein is accessible only to authorized employees. Differing user levels assure that each employee has only the system access necessary to do his or her job and no more. Actual physical access to the terminals themselves is also restricted as a part of our ongoing efforts to protect against reasonably foreseeable threats to patient information. RPM has also taken steps to insure the confidentiality and integrity of data transmitted via the Internet by the installation of the latest firewall technology to prevent unauthorized access to our internal network. A Virtual Privacy Network (VPN) uses encryption and other security mechanisms to ensure that only authorized users can access all incoming and outgoing data.
